Argentina's disappointing draw 1-1 against Bolivia in debut
No shine, the Argentina draw 1-1 against Bolivia in La Plata City Stadium in the opening match of Copa America 2011. The visit went ahead with a goal against Ever Banega (after a block of Edivaldo Rojas) and Sergio Aguero, who entered the second half, tied for the cast of Sergio Batista. Next up will be Wednesday, against Colombia.
For the debut edition of the Copa America, Sergio Batista opted for a classic pattern, with four players in the bottom three leaflets, more Lavezzi and Tevez, as extremes, the team responsible for offensive Lionel Messi.
And the Argentine team took two minutes to generate threat on goal defended by Carlos Arias, because Messi got the ball in the area, a free throw, and Tevez came off, to put a header that went wide.
Bolivia's position yielded no surprises, because defenders and midfielders gathered near his own area, not to give advantages, while Marcelo Martins represented the protagonist of a minimum bet of the counterattack.
The Batista's team took positive partnerships between the arm and the front and confusion urged Bolivians, which came with 21 minutes on the Romero's domains of danger with a shot of Rojas.
Messi pulled until he decided to put together a few yards behind play and 25 minutes, his magical left foot a pinpoint pass to Lavezzi, who entering right diagonal shot, when his only opposition was the goalkeeper Arias.
Within half an hour, Messi was inspired again, enabled Tevez, but the shot's from Manchester City striker was deflected by Carlos Arias at the corner.
Far from the brightness expected for their performance, the most dangerous approach of the Argentina in the first half relied on the magic of Messi and projections of Mark Red on the left side.
At 32 minutes, in another move that had Messi as the protagonist, Arias gave an unexpected error, and Cambiasso was close to scoring when the rebound over the goalie Bolivia.
In addition, input came the bucket of cold water to the Argentine list, because in a corner, Rojas deflected the ball with the heel, but was delayed Banega in rejecting the near Romero's post, and confused that accident, Bolivia was 1 to 0 score.
In this circumstance, Argentina increased the tempo and had two clear situations in the foothills of Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria, who was not matched to the arc in their definitions.
In the middle 20 minutes, Bolivia had the great chance to widen the gap, when Martins was hand in hand with Romero and the Argentine goalkeeper won the duel of two consecutive situations.
With more ambition than ideas footballing Batista's team looked above, below, and especially thanks to the injection of depth that gave Aguero, who came by Lavezzi.
At 30 minutes, Burdisso the chest down in the area and Sergio Aguero high turnover crossed with a shot that left unanswered Arias to put the 1 to 1.
Towards the end of the game, Argentina had a couple of arrivals of risk, but collided with his own impotence and the tie was punishment for irregular and unexpected performance.
After the draw against Bolivia, Argentina will continue its activity in the group against Colombia in the field of Colon de Santa Fe on Wednesday, 6, and close to Costa Rica on Monday 11 in Cordoba.
